As part of the Hinkley Connection Project, Bridgwater Substation was upgraded from 275kV to 400kV to accommodate increasing electricity demand in the area. A key component of this upgrade was the installation of a 174-tonne supergrid transformer. This project was a Omexom Taylor Woodrow joint venture, to deliver the National Grid substation upgrade.
Our client on this project was Taylor Woodrow and within our role, we worked closely with the civils team to ensure various aspects of the project were set out accurately and within tolerances.
Our works includes the following:
Setting up station control.
Setting out of of precast piles as well as as-built records of installed positions vs design.
Foundations.
Holding down bolts as well as spreadsheet showing variation of tolerances from as-built to design.
Drainage and services
Quality assurance surveys, pre pour and post pour inspections
Control of updating ITP document.
